Windows Server Administrator

 

Description:

The Server Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Microsoft Windows server, Linux Server, Backup and Storage infrastructure within the organization with minimum 7 years of experience. Ensure the stability, security, and performance of Windows and Linux based systems and applications and provide technical support to end-users and other IT teams.

 

 

Your role

1. Install, configure, and maintain Windows server operating systems, including Windows Server 2012, 2016, and 2019.

2. Manage Active Directory services, including user and group management, group policy administration, and domain controller configuration.

3. Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and security events, and implement optimizations and security measures as needed.

4. Configure and maintain Windows-based services such as DNS, DHCP, WINS, and IIS.

5. Install, configure, and maintain virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V or VMware vSphere.

6. Manage and administer Microsoft Exchange Server or other email systems, including user mailboxes, distribution lists, and email routing.

7. Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions for Windows servers and applications.

8. Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate Windows-based systems with other platforms and applications.

 

9. Linux Server Administration: Manage and monitor Linux-based servers, including CentOS, Ubuntu, or Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Perform package management, user management, and system administration tasks. Patch Management using RedHat Satellite Servers.

 

10. Backup and Storage Management: Manage backup and storage solutions to protect critical data and ensure business continuity. Configure and manage backup schedules, retention policies, and disaster recovery procedures using backup software Veritas and Pure Storage solution. File and data storage management, LUN configuration and management.

 

11. Active Directory and Domain Controller Management: maintain Active Directory infrastructure, including domain controllers, group policies, and trusts. Manage user authentication, authorization, and access control across Windows-based systems and applications. Enable and maintain trust relationship with other forests/domains · Follow client policies and procedures to maintain security standards, .Plan, document, and perform Active Directory backup and recovery tasks · User Account Administration. Maintain site topology for directory replication and authentication

 

12. Network Storage Administration: Configure and manage network-attached storage (NAS) and storage area network (SAN) devices. Allocate storage resources, create, and manage storage volumes, and implement data deduplication and compression techniques. San Switch configuration and management.

 

13. Server Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Monitor server performance, resource utilization, and system health using monitoring tools and performance counters. Analyze performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to improve system efficiency.

 

14. Troubleshoot issues related to Directory, Group Policies, Patch management, Log management, SCOM, VMWare

15. Evaluate DR , BCP requirements and ensure to revise policies liaising with Architects , Business to reduce downtime

16. CISCO UCS knowledge will be must preferrable.

 

 

Required

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

2. Proven experience as a Windows Administrator, with hands-on experience managing Windows server environments.

3. Strong understanding of Windows server operating systems, Active Directory, and related services and protocols.

4. Experience with server virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware.

5. Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and administration tasks.

6. Familiarity with network protocols, services, and security principles.

7. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.

8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

9. Certifications such as MCSA: Windows Server or MCSE: Core Infrastructure are preferred.

10. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively.

11. Understanding on CISCO UCS is must.
