The WHS Advisor’s core objective will be to have eyes on the ground working with frontline staff. You will provide practical support, advice and assistance to help employees to understand their legislative work health, safety and environment responsibilities and implement appropriate safety systems to manage their work health, safety and environment risks. The WHS Advisor will be passionate about educating staff and positively influencing safety in the workplace. This role provides the opportunity to educate, influence, assist and shape their safety and safeguarding culture.

You will provide expert health and safety technical advice, management system guidance, and practical support to management and staff through a systematic approach, and through a lens of continuous improvement.
The WHS Advisor will be provided with a vehicle allowance and access to pool vehicles for regional intra-state travel on a quarterly basis.

  • Lead, facilitate, and maintain strong safety and safeguarding culture.
  • Meeting safeguarding licensing standards in protecting people, those with a disability, and other vulnerabilities.
  • Provide practical support, advice, and assistance to help employees to understand their legislative WHS responsibilities.
  • Implement appropriate safety systems to manage WHS risks.
  • Conduct risk assessments and initiate safe design practices at customer and company homes.
  • Contribute to the prevention of incidents (risk assessments, verifying controls, etc) primarily in areas of WHS manual handling, secondary behaviours.
  • Support Return to Work Coordinators.
  • Engage and Develop the WHS Learning and Development Framework (with the Training Officer) as a key prevention strategy.
  • Compliance & Management of Risk & Assessment.
  • Experience in working in a self-insured environment.
