Wastewater Treatment Technician

Description:

The Wastewater Treatment Technician, based in Gibson Island, QLD, will report to the Process Engineer (Chemicals) for Visy’s Pulp and Paper division. The role will focus on Wastewater treatment plant operation regarding plant performance drive, effluent quality improvement, continuous biogas production, and cost reduction activities.

The role will help to manage the performance and runnability of the site desalination plant.

The role will support the mills chemical department which includes all paper additives and mill water system microbial and calcium control. This will include chemical and paper testing to understand and optimise the performance of chemicals being used.

Duties

Reporting to the Process Engineer (Chemicals), key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Process optimization, troubleshooting and problem solving for wastewater treatment plant and chemical department
• Perform improvement project activities from process analysis through implementation and evaluation e.g. cost saving, process reliability, and safety
• Chemical management
• Chemical and product testing
• Maintain conditions of wastewater treatment plant’s equipment to keep plant’s performance and safe working environment
• In charge of wastewater treatment operation cost control and wastewater testing
• Plan, liaise and execute maintenance activities based on criticality
• Ensure compliance of HSE of activities to company’s policy

What you will bring to the team

Mandatory

• 1-2 years of work experience in industrial engineering

Desirable

• Forklift license
• Anaerobic Reactor Operation working knowledge and/or experience
• Wastewater Treatment Lab knowledge
• Bachelor’s degree (science, engineering)
