Description:

As a Media and Public Relations Officer, you will support the NSW Sheriff’s Office and the DCJ Media Team through your proactive and reactive work across media, social media, events, public relations, and communications. The role supports media enquiries, manages, and supports adoption and use of social media platforms and applications, as well as supporting various events within the agency.

In this newly created role in the NSW Sheriff’s Office, you’ll work with the Director Operational Capability and Performance and the DCJ Media Team in responding to media inquiries and organising proactive media opportunities.

You’ll be able to identify opportunities to promote the NSW Sheriff’s Office, its brand, and its employees through the media to ensure the agency’s key projects, work and campaigns have appropriate coverage and promotion.

You’ll build positive relationships with Sheriff’s Office employees, and within DCJ, to ensure that key messages are delivered, and the Department maintains good media and communication coverage with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Tertiary qualifications in media, public relations, or communications and / or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with electronic and print media or as a media liaison or in public relations.
  • Strong writing ability, including writing to a range of audiences across multiple channels.
