WooliesX Hub is based within a 2 minute walk from Central station and walking distance from all the cafes and restaurants that Surry Hills has to offer. The brand new site has been designed to support flexible working with different spaces for different activities such as collaboration, brainstorming or just chilling out.

 

What we’re looking for


The UI designer is responsible for building advocacy through making complex experiences feel intuitive and simple across responsive web and apps.

 

Must have attributes and experience

 

  • Strong understanding of UI and visual design patterns and components (e.g. iOS Human Interface Design, Google Material Design)
  • Experience documenting pattern libraries and style guides
  • Understanding of User Centred Design method and practices
  • Solid understanding of UI and visual design across responsive and mobile first.
  • Excellent visual communication design skills
  • Solving complex design problems to make difficult processes feel engaging
  • Storyboarding, prototyping and creation of bespoke assets including illustrations, artwork and video
  • Taking a data-driven approach to creative development including ensuring the right measurement tools and methods are in place to determine success and improvement opportunities
  • Producing UI concepts, mock-ups, prototypes, test variants and final designs
  • Understand how to translate sketches and wireframes into high fidelity visual designs with appropriate execution of brand colours, typography, iconography and relevant style guide specs
  • Sketching or mocking up designs to communicate ideas on the spot
  • Working with front-end developers to find efficiencies in UI rendering
  • Communicating and presenting research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale both verbally and visually
  • Participating in the testing of designs through a variety of techniques including guerrilla, structured, online and external testing
  • Establishing mechanisms for customer feedback
  • Designing and facilitating testing workshops internally and with customers
  • Collaborating effectively with UX designers, copywriters, digital content producers, brand, marketing, product owners, business analysts and developers
  • Ensuring new projects are created to WCAG 2.0 AA web standards and conform to style guides and other digital standards
  • Presenting to, and working closely with, QA and test teams to ensure design acceptance is well understood and considered
  • Developing their craft and ensuring they are taking ownership of upskilling and development as the industry evolves
  • Defining, developing, selling and seeking buy-in to design visions for problems, products and features
  • 5+ years’ experience in a design role
  • Qualification in Interface Design or any similar area.
  • Advanced skills in industry-leading software and technologies, such as Adobe Photoshop, Figma, inVision, Jira, Confluence, Trello, Google suite
  • Ability to understand analytics data in order to make data driven decisions
  • Able to work and solve complex problems independently as well as part of a team
  • Experience working in agile and lean environments
  • Ability to understand and design for personas
  • Good understanding of the customer-first mindset
  • A creative, original and thoughtful designer and passionate about your craft
  • Able to think strategically and create innovative visual communication pieces
  • Experience in digital design including website design, development, and maintenance/user interfaces
  • An understanding of the foundations of front-end web development
  • Experience in delivering small to large UI projects from websites to apps
  • A fast learner with a willingness to continually improve skills and processes
  • Able to creatively communicate complex information, data, and messages using a visual medium
  • Strong at cultivating effective working relationships
  • Good presentation skills and the confidence to explain and communicate ideas to team members
  • Effective time-management skills and the ability to cope with several projects at a time
  • Methodical with document creation and maintenance of digital files
  • Accuracy and expert attention to detail with design work
  • Respectful and considerate to internal and external stakeholders and colleagues
  • Open to feedback and willing to make changes to your designs
  • An ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies and a passion for using technology to improve work efficiency
  • Thrives on new challenges, strong desire to do things right, constantly learn, and have fun.
