About the role
The Performance Team supports ALC’s vision by identifying, developing and coordinating delivery of progressive
training and workforce sessions that will:

  • Effectively attract and engage new employees into the workforce.
  • Strengthen and retain employees by providing development opportunities, considering individual needs

and aspirations.

  • Through a strengths-based approach, develop (grow) an individual through succession pathways where

appropriate.

The team is part of the HR & Performance department and offers two streams who have at their core an
understanding of socio-economic, geographic, cultural and mainstream barriers for Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islanders in remote locations.

  • Support LLN, E-literacy and other training as required.
  • Manage the daily workloads of the Support Officer with direction from the Senior Officer.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of Cultural Awareness sessions.
  • Help plan training programs, activities and initiatives that support training requirements.
  • Deliver training programs to participants, activities and initiatives in an interactive manner which is aimed at

achieving established results.

  • Conduct, assist and support evaluation of programs and training to determine suitability and areas for

improvement.

  • Assess training needs on a case-by-case basis with new trainees.
  • Compile data and write reports on training results, attendance levels and delivery methods.
  • Engage community through programs and activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional partners and stakeholders.
  • Work with other departments and groups within ALC to deliver training.
  • Support Senior Officer with training related bookings and purchases in accordance with the procurement

policy, with appropriate approvals sought.

  • Support external training providers logistic, bookings, course selection and coordination.
  • Support the Performance Team Coordinator and Senior Officer to address ALC Department Managers and

employee professional development training needs as directed.

  • Assist with other duties and daily operations of the Performance Team as required and/or directed by the

Performance Team Coordinator.

1. Ability and willingness to travel to all communities in the Groote Archipelago as required.

2. Experience and/or transferrable skills in planning, implementation and delivery of training programs, activities
and initiatives.

3. Sound organisation skills and the ability to prioritise changing work loads.

4. Demonstrated ability to work and relate to indigenous people desirable.

5. Sound e-literacy knowledge and competent in utilising computer applications eg Microsoft office for the
preparation of training materials, data and reports.

6. Demonstrated sound interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including the capacity to
communicate effectively with Indigenous people and other stakeholders.

7. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective professional and community based relationships to
increase community participation and engagement with activities and training provided.

8. The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive matters.

9. Hold a Working with Children Card or ability to obtain.

10. Possess a current NT driver’s License or ability to obtain.
