About the role
In this role, you will develop, implement and measure effective marketing and communications strategies to promote Greater Geelong and The Bellarine as a tourism destination focusing on key themes and niche markets.

The position will develop and deliver a consistent public relations program working closely with local, state and national media agencies to develop enticing story angles to ensure Greater Geelong and The Bellarine is at the forefront of all relevant media channels.

Key responsibilities include:

  • In cooperation with the Tourism Marketing and Communications Manager, developing, implementing and evaluating strategic tactical marketing and communications campaigns identified in Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellerine’s (TGGB) Action Plan to increase awareness and attraction of Greater Geelong and The Bellarine.
  • Developing a strong public relations campaign generating positive editorial and promotion of the region in local, state and national media outlets.
  • Preparing and/or disseminating high quality publications and promotional material in consultation with industry and stakeholders to help drive visitation to and within the region.
  • Assisting in preparing and monitoring of budgets and board reporting for appropriate marketing campaigns.
  • Assisting in the planning and development of TGGB Strategies and Action Plans as required and in relation marketing and communications projects.
  • Assisting the Marketing and Communications team in developing weekly communications to the tourism industry regarding current trends, information and marketing opportunities presented for the region.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have developed strategic planning and process skills manifested through the development and implementation of appropriate strategies and opportunities in a competitive environment.

Essential Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications/marketing or tourism.
  • Current Victorian drivers licence.
  • Ability to identify emerging trends and develop new ideas for the leisure tourism market.
  • Knowledge of public relations and media networks and strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to coordinate and attend consumer events and familiarisations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage marketing and communications projects and to deliver initiatives on time and within budget.
  • Superior written communication skills and high level oral communication skills.
