The Technical Manager role with be part of a team responsible for leading the successful delivery of the ICT workstream across the discovery, design, construction and commissioning phases of the establishment of a new facility.

The Technical Manager will lead and deliver a program of work that ensures the necessary ICT equipment, system applications and cyber security posture are ready and available for the facility on Day 1. The role with oversight and/or provide all ICT technical advice and capability contributing to the discovery, design, construction and commissioning phases of the new facility.

  • Undertake an assessment to provide recommendations and solutions regarding the feasibility of the extension of existing system usage and infrastructure requirements to the new facility.
  • Lead a number of work packages associated with the procurement, set-up and interoperability of required devices, applications and security infrastructure.
  • Establish and implement necessary operational processes to ensure the effective delivery of the ICT workstream deliverables.
  • Oversight implementation of all required business applications within the facility, including new prisoner technology solutions.
  • Coordinate and manage ICT vendors engaged as part of the project
  • Plan and deliver all necessary activities to ensure staff within the new facility have the necessary ICT equipment available on Day 1 of the facility opening including managing device issuing and managing user access and licencing requirements for all required ICT applications.
  • Identify opportunities, and lead small teams in the rapid prototyping of technology to develop and validate technical approaches and new digital tools prior to being adopted within the agency.
  • Ensure that all system functional and non-functional requirements are sufficiently detailed to allow the design of a solution that fully meets the needs and expectations of system stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive responses, briefs, submissions, presentations, and reports to guide the development and implementation of agency solutions.
  • Develop and manage relationships with and between stakeholders, including senior program/project executives, facilitating open communication and collaborative working relationships.

Experience in acting as a technical leader, managing small projects and validating technology and methodology, while influencing stakeholders and driving business innovation

Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to successfully operate within a highly regulated environment with experience in the interpretation and application of legislation, policies, and procedures

Good knowledge of current and emerging technologies and their potential application, in addition to being open-minded and technically creative
