Technical Officer

We are seeking a Technical Officer to provide support and assistance within UniSA Education Futures. The successful candidate will apply theoretical and practical knowledge and techniques to a range of tasks across teaching and research environments that contribute to the unit’s goals and objectives.

Core Responsibilities

• Prepare equipment, classrooms and facilities for undergraduate and post graduate teaching activities
• Assist academic staff in conducting practical teaching, including model preparation and guidance in techniques required to safely use equipment and facilities
• Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures and Material Safety Data Sheets are easily accessible or displayed, and that all equipment is stored in accordance with safe working regulations
• Develop and implement documentation alongside the Team Leader that outline planning processes
• Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to collaborate effectively in meeting school goals and objectives

Essential Skills and Experience

• Post-secondary qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent skills, knowledge and experience
• Demonstrated proficiency in the operating, designing and maintenance/repair of workshop and mechanical equipment
• High level skills in welding and sheet metal fabrication and other materials (e.g. timber and plastics)
• Highly developed organisational skills to manage multiple priorities and projects within tight timelines independently and in a team
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements in providing a safe working environment in the technical areas of the School of Education
