The School of Engineering offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a broad range of engineering disciplines whilst maintaining a strong research profile. In alignment with the University’s vision to be recognised for our world ready graduates and leading-edge research, the School is continually expanding its teaching and research facilities. With three buildings across the Joondalup campus the new Engineering Annex is the most recent addition to the School, built to accommodate specialist research labs and is fitted out with state-of-the-art equipment.

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to lead a team of Technical and Systems staff to provide exceptional technical support to our teaching and research facilities, students, and staff.

The position plays a critical role in the provision of expert engineering research support, as well as the planning and development of technical capability for the School’s research and teaching programs. It has a strong focus on Occupational Safety and Health requirements and compliance taking a strategic role in the management of risk.

Key Criteria

The successful candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering with preference for, but not limited to, electrical or mechanical engineering;
  • Significant experience in engineering management in a comparable engineering environment;
  • Experience with risk assessment and management as would be relevant to ECU’s engineering laboratories and workshops;
  • Experience in engineering design and development;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including academics, technical staff, students, industry and government bodies.
