This is an exciting opportunity to join our multi award winning organisation, coordinating and overseeing the effective management of Council’s plant and equipment.

Reporting to the Manager Financial Services, the Team Leader will provide leadership and coordination of the technical operation of Council’s workshop including servicing and repairing plant, fleet and equipment to ensure that assets are maintained in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications to optimise the value and performance of Council’s fleet / plant investments.

As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for fostering our positive team culture, building strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders, and leading the team to deliver high quality outputs.

To be successful in this role, you will possess qualifications or equivalent experience in a Fleet Management / Mechanical Workshop environment; current General Construction Induction Certificate (White Card); demonstrated experience in coordinating the servicing, maintenance and repairs of light vehicle and heavy plant/equipment; and demonstrated ability to effectively lead and co-ordinate a multi-disciplined team delivering a comprehensive range of mechanical services.

You will also possess intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; be highly organised with the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks; and have a sound understanding of budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • Manage the Fleet in accordance with Council policies and procedures whilst maintaining environmental principles and achieving best value for money
  • Contributing to the development of Council’s fleet strategy and long-term replacement plans.
  • Providing input into the development of the long-term fleet replacement program.
  • Coordinating the long-term fleet replacement program.
  • Preparing regular operational reports for the Executive Leadership Team.
