This role involves the management of one of five Planning Teams within the Development & Traffic Services Unit. The position is responsible for the management of a team, who are involved in the assessment of a large range of development applications across the Parramatta LGA.

On a daily basis you will:

  • Manage & guide the workload of a team that consists of Senior Planners, Graduate Planners and Students,
  • Work cooperatively with the team and other teams and departments of Council to review, improve and integrate processes and procedures,
  • Attend relevant Panel Meetings (DEAP, LPP and SCCPP and Design Jury)
  • Assist with Land and Environment Court matters
  • Liaise with building professionals, the public and other interested parties on development assessment matters &
  • Assist in the mentoring and professional development of staff within the team
  • The role is part of the Management Team for the unit, with acting opportunities available from time to time
  • Tertiary qualifications (degree or associate diploma) in town planning, building surveying or related discipline
  • Extensive relevant experience in development assessment
  • High level of communication (oral and written); negotiation and conflict resolution skills (includes problem solving); innovation and people management skills
  • High level customer service and case management skill
