Description:

Yandelora School is a newly established school esablished in 2019. The school meets the needs of students with moderate and severe intellectual and physical disability, Autism, challenging behaviours, and sensory impairment. As of 2022 we have over 100 students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

Yandelora means "Meeting Place, a place of Peace amongst the people" and relates to a local area called Lake Yandel'ora. The name was given to the school to acknowledge this very special to the aboriginal people, with the school emblem represented through the tail feather of the Lyrebird. At Yandelora School we like to use every student's unique voice to support them in their communication, so, like the Lyrebird we try to learn the voice or communication system of every student who attends our school.

Our school uses the Zones of Regulation to support our students social and emotional regulation. We place a significant emphasis on our need to meet the wellbeing of all our students, staff and families so we can better support environment of continued growth and learning.

The school is located across the road from a mainstream primary school which opens opportunities for integration activities, and close to a major shopping centre that enables good access for life skills programs.
