Balranald Central School is a K-12 school located in a small rural and remote township of approximately 1200 people located 130 kilometres west of Hay in the South-West Riverina region. The school caters for the learning needs of approximately 180 students, including 25% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. Students come from a diverse range of socio-economic backgrounds.
Balranald Central School offers individualised learning in small composite class groups in primary and mainstream year groups in Secondary. Stage 6 students are able undertake studies at the school, with the majority of subjects being delivered on site. Students can access Aurora and Distance Education for subjects not delivered locally. In senior years, academic pursuits and vocational education are growing priorities. A Multi-Categorical class is in operation for students with diverse learning needs.
