Gladys Newton School is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Education Support Teacher to join their professional and friendly team!

The successful applicant will ideally become an active member of our staff, focusing on the learning and wellbeing of our students, creating community access opportunities, effectively leading staff teams and liaising with therapists for the benefit of students’ individual education programs.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience teaching students with a variety of disabilities, supporting the development of swimming and water safety skills, and working collaboratively and effectively with colleagues, therapists and allied professionals to improve the physical and academic wellbeing of students.

Gladys Newton Independent Public School is proud to be a centre of excellence, creating opportunities for success for students aged 4-18 years with intellectual disability, autism, physical disabilities and severe mental health issues. Our school is a leader in providing educational programs for students who require a reduction in environmental stimuli enabling them to achieve academically as well as learn to self-regulate their anxiety and behaviour.

The school has safe, secure and spacious grounds with well-established gardens and shady playground areas. We offer a wide range of amenities, not generally available in mainstream schools: custom designed playgrounds, a gymnasium, an indoor heated pool, a Health Club, perceptual motor program room, work skills room, library/resource centre, a home economics area, an art/craft learning area, a bicycle track, and a multi-sensory environment. As well, we offer the interactive Stephanie Alexander kitchen garden program, Bush Ranger Cadets and ASDAN programs.
