GHD’s Property and Buildings Sustainability team is looking for innovative, creative and experienced individuals to join their Melbourne team. You will have the opportunity to work on large scale, innovative projects and be empowered to push design in the built environment to go above and beyond the business-as-usual.

We are looking for people who work to ‘do good’ and have a strong connection to sustainability. We are seeking people who are proactive and collaborative, who are interested in design and providing lasting benefit to projects they work on. We are seeking people who have a team first attitude and have a strong technical foundation which can be applied to broad range of sectors and projects.

You should be comfortable in representing GHD to the client and undertaking workshops internally and externally to define sustainability for the purpose of the project. You will be responsible for your own projects and act as the Sustainability Lead on multi-disciplinary project, managing the budget and resources required. You should be passionate about developing solutions for a low carbon, sustainable built environment.

We are open to considering candidates to be based in any of our Victorian offices (Melbourne, Geelong, Traralgon, Mildura, Albury-Wodonga) and will consider candidates interested in working part-time too. 

Working with the Business Group Leader and Team Leaders for Building Engineering, this exciting position has great variety and will see you involved in: 
 

  • Integrating sustainable thinking into all facets of engineering and architectural design.
  • Considering holistic sustainability strategies across the design process, informing the strategic development of large organisations and their associated projects.
  • Developing pathways to meet Net Zero Emissions for new building and precinct design.
  • Assessing how existing buildings and developments currently perform and identify areas where improvements can be made.
  • Utilizing generative design software to model and analyze building and precinct design to enhance the microclimatic conditions of developments.

What would you bring to the team? 
 

  • Tertiary degree in a relevant engineering, environmental or architecture related profession
  • 3+ years of diverse experience in the provision and delivery of ESD
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of Sustainability Framework rating tools (such as Green Star) with experience delivering frameworks on various projects
  • Detailed knowledge of sustainability compliance measures including the NCC Section J
  • Experience in Energy Modelling using IES. 
     

Additional Experience (not essential):
 

  • Greenstar Accredited Professional (GSAP)
  • Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional (ISAP)
  • Experience with Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) using E-tool or equivalent software
  • Experience in parametric modelling, including daylight, glare, reflectivity, solar access, CFD and any other relevant solution.
