Description:
- To contribute to in-patient theatre activity for Urology.
- To contribute to the day case surgery theatre activity for Urology.
- To undertake general and subspecialty urology outpatient clinics at the hospital.
To be able to work independently operate on the following:
- Peno-scrotal surgery (circumcision, vasectomy, hydrocele correction, epididymal cyst excision)
- TURBT
- TURP
- Flexible Cystoscopy
- TRUS Biopsy
- Uro-Dynamic Study
- The successful applicant will be jointly responsible to all the Urology Consultants.
- To undertake clinical responsibility for a range of urological patients, subject to the wishes of the relevant consultant.
- To maximise the use of spare theatre lists and clinics where appropriate.
- To be jointly responsible, together with the Registrar and four Specialty Doctors, for the daily running of the ward and the care of the inpatients.
- To participate in the Urology (middle-grade) On Call rota will be 1 in 5.
- To promote the development of multi-disciplinary teams and shared responsibility for the provision of care to patients.
- To support the development of clinical governance, using audit findings to improve the quality of treatment and to minimise clinical risk.
- To work with colleagues to promote the collective aims of the department.
- To participate in departmental teaching and to ensure continued professional development.
The weekly job plan is subject to change depending on, amongst other things but not exclusively, the existing contracts with the hospital, the experience of the Specialist Registrars, and the overriding needs of the department.
