Description:
Your primary purpose will be to provide vision, direction and leadership to the Human Resources department at the McArthur River Mine. Your accountability will be to provide support direct to the General Manager MRM and their team. This is a generalist role operating across the full suite of Human Resources systems and processes. Establishing your team as trusted advisors, you will provide sound, practical and reasoned advice, in line with Glencore’s policies and procedures, to operational leaders and across the entire site. With accountabilities across the entire operation your responsibilities will include:
- Leading a culture of prompt service, knowledge and professionalism with your team so they are sought out for support, coaching and advice by operational leaders.
- Effectively manage your team and develop their capability to align directly to business needs.
- Ensure management and adherence to HR related policies and procedures inclusive of Enterprise Agreements and legislation.
- Negate business risk by managing employee and industrial relations effectively & promptly
- Coach leadership on how to make sound decisions and reduce complaints.
- Use data to identify, manage and solving problems and to balance quick resolutions with developing longer term solutions.
- Build strong relationships with the department leadership, be visible and provide easy access for employees and leaders.
- Maintaining integrity of HR information systems, so data and effective reporting can be used to drive operational decisions and enable leaders to drive performance.
- Constantly seek to innovate, improve process, gain efficiencies, enhance service and advance the overall performance and effectiveness of the team.

As such, our expectations are you will encompass most of the following:
- You are a tertiary qualified HR professional, or have extensive experience in a similar role, with a broad based or generalist background.
- A strong understanding and applied knowledge of human resources practices, preferably within the resources or a similar heavy industry sector.
- Team leadership experience of a HR function.
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills, driven by quality communication.
- Effective influencing, negotiating and engagement skills.
- Planning experience, including budgets, reporting, analysing data to drive performance.
- The ability to hold and conduct difficult conversations, supporting and coaching line personnel.
- Be able to show a history of developing, mentoring, nurturing and retaining talent within your team.
