Student Wellbeing Leader

St Francis of Assisi Primary School is seeking an applicant who is an experienced Wellbeing leader and is motivated, has a proven capacity to help each student achieve their greatest potential through meeting their social and emotional needs and a willingness to enhance wellbeing programs and initiatives.The Student Wellbeing Leader will work collaboratively with the Deputy Principal/PBL Leader and Learning Diversity Leader to enhance the wellbeing practices across the school.

Applicants will possess the skills and abilities to promote high expectations for all, embrace a collaborative approach to wellbeing, learning and teaching, and demonstrate their contribution to the ongoing development of our learning community.

The successful applicant will be offered a two year contract to the Student Wellbeing Role and an ongoing teaching position.

Applicants are asked to demonstrate:

  • experience with the Positive Behaviours for Learning approach
  • experience in supporting students social and emotional needs
  • an ability to develop and maintain respectful and caring relationships with students, families and colleagues
  • an understanding of evidence based best practice and high impact teaching strategies especially in the area of wellbeing
  • an ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • a capacity to use data to make informed decisions about wellbeing interventions
  • a commitment to Catholic education, and an understanding of the leadership role in Catholic education
  • a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children
  • knowledge of current legislation around child safety and other areas linking to wellbeing
  • a high level of theoretical and operational knowledge of student wellbeing initiatives
  • additional qualification to initial teacher education (e.g. Master’s degree in Wellbeing or other relevant qualification) is an advantage
  • extensive management and leadership experience in Wellbeing
  • strong interpersonal, empathetic and negotiating skills and exceptional communication skills
  • accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school or a willingness to gain this
  • current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
