Student Project Officer

Description:

  • 3 x Opportunities available within Economic Cultural, Social/Cultural or Environment/Social Portfolios
  • Part Time | 3 days | Excellent Employee Benefits

The City of Parramatta is experiencing unprecedented change and transformation, presenting Council, its partners and the community a once in a lifetime opportunity to shape the future of Sydney’s Central River City. Council’s City Strategy unit is responding to the challenge – building and transforming the team to plan for a culturally, socially, environmentally and economically sustainable City.

We are recruiting a Student Project Officer who can assist and support the delivery of economic, environmental, social and cultural outcomes for major projects and strategic programs within City Strategy, in a way consistent with Council’s values of customer focus, innovation, teamwork and integrity.

Following a recent redesign, the City Strategy Team is becoming a multi-disciplinary team, shifting towards an agile operating model, which ensures we can target the strategic response to the City’s opportunities and challenges, towards prioritised outcomes. This approach is suited to those who are accustomed to fast-paced working environments and can quickly change focus or prioritise their work program as needed.

The Student Project Officer role is designed for University, TAFE (or equivalent) undergraduate students who are nearing their final year/s of study and are looking to develop their experience within Council. This role is permanent part-time 3-days-per week.

Applicants will ideally have economic, environmental, social or cultural strategic capabilities and want to make a difference. Applicants may come from a wide range of backgrounds, but more importantly they will be enthusiastic, driven and proactive, with the ability to work independently, efficiently and effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes. This role will suit a person with a positive and proactive can-do attitude, who is creatively minded, achieves outcomes and can problem solve complexities.

Applicants will need to address the following selection criteria:

  • Outline your enrolment in the latter stages of University, TAFE or equivalent study (undergraduate or post-graduate) in a relevant field with excellent academic results.
  • Demonstrate your proven ability to work with initiative and versatility on a wide range of matters including solving complex problems.
  • Demonstrate your ability to work collaboratively in a team (this could include leading and managing teams) and to deliver projects (examples could be from course work, personal or work environment).
  • Outline your high-level computer, communication and research skills, including data analysis, presentations and report writing.
  • Describe your innovation and flexibility with highly developed planning, organising and time management skills including the ability to meet tight deadlines and balance competing priorities
