SWISH Administration Officer ( Temporary Part time Maternity Leave Position starting Feb 2023 until Feb 2024 ) 16 hours per week across 3 days ,Tuesday 6 hrs , Wednesday 5 hrs and Thursday 5hrs ( some flexibility) based at SCH Randwick. Category A health Worker requirements as may have face to face patient contact with screening babies at times. The position supports the State-wide Infant Screening-Hearing (SWISH) manager and the team of SWISH screeners in operational tasks and procedures to ensure that the program meets its key performance indicators in regards to the number of newborns screened, number of newborns referred to diagnostic services and number of newborns identified with permanent hearing loss. The Administration Officer will provide timely and accurate administrative/transactional services for members of the SWISH team under direction of the manager. They will work under broad supervision but will be required to take some independent action. Scope exists for exercising initiative in the application of established work practices and procedures. The role also consists of coordinating the day to day operations of the SWISH department when the manager is offsite or away for short periods. The Administration Officer may also be asked on occasions to complete SWISH screens on the wards. Decisions affecting the overall functioning and management of the SWISH department remains the responsibility of the SWISH manager.

Demonstrates ability to prioritise, troubleshoot and meet deadlines.
Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and telephone manner
Extensive experience in the use of database creation and maintenance, with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, Internet and email
Willingness to learn to use the applications and systems used within the health system
Demonstrated ability to liaise with patients and staff at all levels and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and handle emotive issues sensitively
