Description:

Provide software engineering support for the online e-safety project ‘CyberNinjas: Empowering our Children to be Cyber Smart in the Metaverse’. The project will co-design, develop and pilot an innovative eSafety program aimed at increasing the cyber safety awareness and preparedness of children for thriving on the Metaverse. The proposed program will combine interactive storytelling, immersive technologies, and AI to deliver through a 3D world impactful eSafety training for children and their communities (including parents, guardians, and teachers), with the aim of developing safer online behaviours and habit formation on the Metaverse while encouraging informed and supportive conversations regarding safety, well-being, and referral pathways.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver a software solution that uses co-design and evidence-based frameworks for delivering online safety education
  • Design, develop, test, deploy and evaluate software with stakeholder groups (students, teacher and parents), including fixes to technical problems, technical specifications for the solution, implementation of changes and the provision of operational support to the software deployment in schools
  • Define, plan and estimate individual deliverables within projects, manage own work and deliver completed work on-time. In doing this, proactively keep stakeholders, project leads and peers updated on progress of allocated work and estimation activities.
  • Navigate appropriate course of action, gain agreement on preferred approach and prepare advice (information, materials and recommendations) to meet specific stakeholder style and requirements
  • Application of the online safety awareness and training program into a proof of concept 3D AR and VR software environment (i.e. software development or AR/VR resources)
  • Through an agile and human-centred software engineering process, maximise opportunities for all Australians to understand the online safety support, complaints and referral pathways they can access
  • Use understanding of the target audience to structure and shape communication to meet their information needs or concerns and anticipate and prepare for the audience’s reactions and questions
  • Embed Safety by Design principles, in the development of solutions and programs, where appropriate
  • Implementation of a platform to support the software deployment in schools
  • Supporting the initial pilot of the software, through both technical support and in-person visit to testing sites
  • Provide expert advice and apply strong technical skills and knowledge to the evaluation and assessment of the ideas, concepts and solutions generated, to help determine value and priority stakeholders, colleagues, and team members
  • Plan and prioritises work and critical activities appropriately and recognise barriers to achieving outcomes, finds effective ways to deal with them and evaluates progress
  • Seek feedback on improvement opportunities from a diverse range of key stakeholders and implement change through appropriate channels and overcomes obstacles to change
  • Maintain all relevant documentation and adhere to all architecture, testing, software development and operations practices and standards

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience in Computer Science/Software Engineering or related field or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in Computer Science/Information Technology/Software Engineering or relevant discipline
  • Extensive Experience with deployment of a software product/ build
  • Experience with project management
  • Demonstrable experience working across the full life-cycle of a technology project
