Description:
As a Software Development Manager at Compare the Market, your role is to provide leadership to our technology team, manage all development work undertaken by the team and support general improvement of how we do things in Technology at Compare the Market. You’ll be responsible for management and personal development of your team members. You’ll be a natural mentor with a desire to nurture and grow a high performing team. This role shares the architectural responsibility within your allocated area and has an important role to play in all development efforts undertaken by us.
Responsibilities
- People leadership – provide direction, support and guidance to your team of Software Developers.
- Technology leadership – provide leadership in development processes, continuous improvement in delivery processes and architecture.
- Resource coordination – work with PMOs to ensure we’re best set up to delivery on our commitments.
Knowledge And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology majoring in Software Development or equivalent industry experience.
- A minimum of 5 years management experience in a software development environment or equivalent, demonstrating a strong understanding of the software development life cycle;
- Knowledge of relational databases, preferably MySQL;
- Demonstrated experience in the use of Confluence and JIRA or similar tools;
- Significant experience creating documents that are both technical and business focussed in nature;
- People leadership skills and the ability to engage deeply with a diverse and large workforce;
- Self motivated team player who is well organized, with effective communication and reporting skills;
- Effective problem solving skills and a strong "nonsense" filter;
- Demonstrated time management and personal efficiency skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and to help others to do the same;
- A good understanding and exposure to coaching techniques;
- Effective relationship skills supporting a collaborative and trusting stakeholder engagement approach;
