Job Summary:

A 12 month fixed term contract opportunity working within the Integrated Marketing team, and reporting to both the Senior Integrated Marketing Manager – Disney and the Marketing & Media Strategy Manager (DDI), the Social Media Specialist will be responsible for developing strategic and effective social media marketing plans to support DDI priorities.

This role will be responsible managing both organic and paid activity as well as day-to-day publishing, messaging, monitoring, and moderation of all Disney AUNZ DDI social media channels.

This person is a creative, detail-oriented and data driven thought leader who actively stays ahead of industry trends in order to contribute to the success of these channels locally. With a focus on social strategy and tone of voice, along with the day-to-day sourcing, preparation and distribution of content to social channels, they will also play an active role in capturing content first-hand at local events, activations.

Responsibilities:

Social strategy

  • Support the Senior Integrated Marketing Manager – Disney and the Marketing & Media Strategy Manger (DDI) to develop paid and organic campaigns to meet both short, and long term, objectives
  • Ensure all content aligns back to the wider brand and marketing strategy
  • Suggest opportunities for cross-channel and synergy support
  • Develop content briefs to support strategic plans and DDI commercial priorities
  • Collaborate on social growth strategies with broader content teams
  • Manage creation and distribution of marketing assets
  • Manage social media marketing budgets and processing
  • Deliver reporting to identify ROI, key learnings and adapt campaigns

Creative ideation & content creation

  • Generate innovative social content ideas and collaborate with lines of business internally to bring concepts to life
  • Work with US-based DDI creative team(s) to brainstorm, source and localise content for AUNZ audiences
  • Repurpose, generate and produce content that drives positive audience outcomes and engagement
  • Capture content at live events including announcements or other live activations
  • Work with internal and external creative resources to build engaging content that resonates with DDI target audiences
  • Liaise with social influencers and external content creators as needed

Content management

  • Publish content and adapt formats, tone and messaging across various platforms
  • Moderate content and conversation across social platforms and engage with the audience base to drive positive outcomes e.g. growth, shareability, engagement
  • Manage and maintain content calendars
  • Work closely with external media agency partners to ensure social plan alignment across both organic and paid tactics
  • Be reactive and work with agility to accommodate for global and local announcements
  • Be pro-active with community management to ensure customer engagement as well as encourage interaction and maintain brand safety
  • Deliver reporting as required to identify key learnings and adapt campaigns

Brand management

  • Uphold the reputation of Disney brands at all times, through managing message delivery, tone of voice and ensuring content sits within global brand and visual guidelines
  • Act as a brand custodian and ensures brand compliance
  • Gather and interpret brand insights to guide recommendations
  • Maintain correspondence with global teams to secure relevant approvals

Stakeholder management

  • Manage stakeholders and work proactively with departments, teams or external agencies to drive best practice
  • Stay ahead of the latest developments in social media tools, trends, platforms and techniques and be proactive in sharing news and insights with the team and relevant stakeholders


Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in a similar social media role, preferably working across multiple brands in a global company

Desired:

  • Knowledge of scheduling platforms including Spredfast preferable
  • Knowledge / experience with DDI and or travel / tourism industries
  • Experience in launching an all-new social presence for a major brand would be an asset


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven competency and superior knowledge of social platforms, tools, and performance tracking
  • Excellent writing and copy skills with the ability to translate traditional marketing content into socially led conversations
  • Passion for storytelling, listening to what the community has to say, and providing engaging experiences in the social space
  • Strong work ethic and high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and creative ideas on tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to use sound judgement to ensure content is within brand guidelines
  • The ability to manage multiple stakeholders
  • Strong collaboration skills
