Bellingen Shire is located on the Mid North Coast of NSW halfway between Sydney and Brisbane and just south of Coffs Harbour. It has a total area of 1,605 square kilometres with a coastline of approximately 10km. The region is renowned for its ecological diversity with State Forests and National Parks covering over 53% of the local government area.

We are a progressive local government authority employing approximately 150 dedicated employees.

The Opportunity

Bellingen Shire Council has an exciting Capital Works delivery program that will be delivered in the coming years.

Council is currently replacing 28 bridges, spending over $20M on its renewal program and spending a further $20M on roads over the next few years.

Reporting to the Project Engineer, this role is responsible for the delivery of major capital and operational projects, from scoping through to delivery, ensuring corporate objectives are executed on time, within cost and to the required level of quality.

The ideal candidate will have Diploma qualifications in Civil Engineering, Project Management (Degree in Engineering preferred) or related discipline and demonstrated experience in civil construction project management (DRFA and TfNSW experience will be highly regarded), experience with NSW Specifications and contract management, and demonstrated understanding and experience of civil construction techniques and practices.

To succeed in the role, you will have demonstrated ability to read plans and to survey and set out civil works, proven ability to manage and lead staff effectively, and the ability to establish and maintain relationships across organisations and with community members.
