About the team
The Communications and Media Branch is responsible for the department’s strategic communications, media and issues management, internal communications, digital channel management and design services.
You will report to and work collaboratively with the Senior Digital Officer to develop and deliver digital content solutions for a broad range of exciting projects in the department.
In this role you will be responsible for
- Undertake the technical development and maintenance of the departments websites based on a thorough understanding of user requirements and the capabilities of Squiz Matrix content management system.
- Plan, design, develop and implement technical solutions to address various departmental business requirements.
- Evaluate and re-develop existing websites and components to improve functionality, usability, accessibility, and overall user experience.
- Understand information security and can design solutions and services with security controls embedded, specifically engineered as mitigation against security threats as a core part of the solutions and services.
- Coordinate the continuous improvement of the department’s websites, including governance, information integrity, and applying customer-centric service design principles.
What do you need to apply for this role
- Proficiency in web development including a strong understanding of web development languages like HTML5, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript (jQuery, Knockout and/or Vue), and PHP (Laravel), MySQL, Git, node.js, REST, SOAP and Apache. Additionally, you should have experience with web frameworks like jQuery, React, or AngularJS.
- Experience with Squiz Matrix cms and its components, including the asset tree, metadata, and templating system. You should also have experience with Matrix’s APIs and web services.
- A strong understanding of design principles, such as layout, typography, and colour theory, is important for creating visually appealing and functional websites.
- Advanced accessibility web design best practices (WCAG) knowledge.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining high quality and creative websites, and interactive services that meet customer needs, are innovative, responsive, functional and provide positive user experiences.
