An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Speech Pathologist to join our outpatient team at Joondalup Health Campus.
- You will be responsible for providing a quality speech pathology service to an adult outpatient caseload who present with a range of swallowing and/or communication deficits.
- You will be part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team of health professionals who are passionate about providing the best evidence-based care for our patients.
Job requirements - what we are looking for:
Essential:
- Bachelor of Science (Human Communication Science) or equivalent.
- Current eligibility for membership with the Speech Pathology Association of Australia.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical experience in a range of adult speech pathology areas including outpatient services, aged care and general medicine.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical experience in assessing and managing adults with swallow and communication deficits due to a range of issues, especially neuro-degenerative diagnoses including Parkinson’s disease and dementia.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate treatment programs including group programs.
- Ability to act as a consultant in adult communication and swallowing disorders.
- Proven advanced administrative, management and leadership skills and the ability to work constructively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Highly developed time management skills in clinical and non-clinical duties.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and appraise speech pathology students and provide mentoring, education and support to other health professionals.
- Demonstrated experience in initiating and completing quality improvement/research in area/s of speciality.
- An understanding of the relevant legislation in Equal Opportunity and Occupational Health and Safety.
- Knowledge of, and commitment to, quality assurance and/or the accreditation process.
Desirable:
- Have attained, or working towards, advanced scope of practice in videofluoroscopic swallow studies (VFSS) and/or flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES).
- Certification in Lee Silverman Voice therapy (LSVT) or similar.
