Description:

The Senior Software Engineer (Web) will collaborate with Digital Technology Delivery colleagues to develop, implement and assist with the delivery of innovative solutions. The role is required to establish strong partnerships with stakeholders and colleagues to develop and implement significant improvements for Corporate, Marketing, Student Administration, Research and Teaching functions.

The incumbent will be required to develop and maintain user-centred web applications and enhance Web Content Management System components and templates. The role remit is also to assist with 2nd and 3rd level support as required, analysing complex systems issues, and working them through to the successful implementation of a solution. This may be through vendor liaison or programming solutions. As a senior member of the Development Services team the incumbent is expected to provide guidance and mentoring on technical solutions for less experienced developers.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Proven technical experience building back-end enterprise solutions working from requirements, solution architecture, integration through the entire SDLC:
    • programming secure object-oriented and database-driven software applications using PHP, Java, or any other language.
  • Proven technical experience designing, building, and testing front-end solutions including web responsive websites and web accessibility:
    • coding valid and cross-browser compatible user interfaces using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.
  • Proven technical experience building enhancements and maintaining complex components or modules for Adobe Experience Manager 6.5.
  • A strong customer service orientation with a focus on results and quality of service as part of a web development, digital or IT team.
  • Demonstrated ability communicating concepts and information succinctly and clearly to all levels of an organisation, including writing technical documentation and end-user documentation.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience and management expertise; or Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
