Senior Research Officer

 

Description:

The primary purpose of a Senior Research Officer is to perform high level research, provide significant intellectual contribution to research project/s and produce high quality research data for publication in peer-reviewed journals. The position also requires contribution to written preparation of manuscripts and funding applications.

All day to day activities require the co-supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students, perhaps as associate supervisor.

  • Relevant doctoral or other equivalent qualification with a significant level of research experience (a minimum of three to five years of postdoctoral research experience full-time equivalent to enter this scale), or other relevant scholarly training

  • Extensive experience in research output, published work, presentations at conferences and seminars, demonstrating intellectual input into the conception and direction of original research and increasing independent implementation of a research project.

  • Track record of demonstrated research output in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Establish a local profile within area of intellectual and/or technical expertise, with emerging national and international exposure.

  • Significant experience in co-supervision, training and guidance of junior research support staff, and/or, undergraduate and postgraduate students.

  • Demonstrated capacity to prepare and/or contribute to successful research proposals to external funding bodies and other agencies.

  • Contribute significantly to administrative or other professional activities within the research group or institution.

  • Performs tasks requiring the integration of substantial theoretical and technical knowledge to develop or apply new technologies.
