The Milford Opportunities Project is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Infrastructure Engineering. A critical role for the project for a person passionate about Piopiotahi and Fiordland.

The Milford Opportunities Project is aiming to enhance and protect the visitor experience, conservation values and the cultural history of iconic Milford Sound Piopiotahi, the Milford Road and Te Anau, and you can be part of this.
We are looking for someone to support our Lead – Infrastructure Feasibility in the next stage of the project, the development of business cases which includes feasibility testing, for the recommendations made in the masterplan launched last year. Part of this work will include more engagement with stakeholders, the community and visitors.

The Milford Opportunities Project aspires to create a more environmentally sustainable, culturally responsive, world-class visitor experience and is an inter-agency collaboration between iwi, business, local and central government.
It is run by an independent board that reports to the Ministers of Conservation, Tourism and Transport.This is a fixed-term role for 18 months, and ideally based in Southland or greater Otago region.
To support the lead in the feasibility and design of infrastructure assets and streams of work in relation to all proposed infrastructure work under the Milford Opportunities Project Masterplan and to deliver a Business Case to the Board and Ministerial Group on the feasibility inclusive of 3 waters, roading and buildings.
You will be responsible for;

  • Test options, feasibility and develop detailed business cases for infrastructure items in the programme business case including budgeting costs
  • Support the lead to define the detailed business case elements of work, timeframes and reporting to enable the overall work programme
  • Engage with stakeholders to gain input into consenting, design, engineering and architectural aspects
  • Proactively draw connections from other teams across the MOP unit and externally from local and central government and DOC as required

We are seeking an individual with experience working in a strong multi- disciplinary project experience and ability to work alongside various project leads and workstreams
If you have the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you:
 

  • Experience working in infrastructure projects and working with consultancies, writing briefings and managing contracts
  • Is skilled in analysing options and working up feasibility and design including dealing with a range of pre-approval requirements such as consents, permits, quantity surveying and engineering requirements
  • Sound knowledge of the machinery of local and central government agencies and executing projects within it or in collaboration
  • Sound understanding of theories, concepts, and principles equivalent to a tertiary qualification in such subjects as engineering, spatial design, complex project management
  • Current full driver's licence and ability to travel to Southland and Otago locations when required
