We are currently looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Engineering Services business, based in Melbourne.
This role will be responsible for the project management of tasks in our Defence Products portfolio, within the Engineering Services Program. This role will directly deliver critical, complex projects for Defence, lead project personnel in a matrix environment, and provide project management assurance across a defined portfolio.
As a Senior Project Manager Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Lead and provide assurance of performance for multiple projects
- Plan, Manage and Review outcomes of Project Scope, Time, Cost, Quality, Resource, Communication, Risk, Procurement and Integration Management as follows:
- Provide estimates for project planning, bids and tenders;
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans (e.g. safety management, risk management, communications, configuration management, etc), budgets and schedules against configured baselines;
- Identify required project resources (includes human, material and facilities);
- Implement and adhere to all relevant policies and procedures, including but not limited to the Project Management policies and processes under the QinetiQ Project Management Framework;
- Manage project scope and change control and escalate issues where required;
- Monitor project actuals, progress and performance;
- Provide project status reports and progress reviews to either client, Program Manager, Program Director, General Manager or all as required;
- Ensure administrative management deliverables are met, including invoice requests and resource projections;
To be successful in the role of Senior Project Manager you will require:
- Vocational qualification (Certificate IV) in Project Management (preferably endorsed by the Australian Institute of Project Management or an International equivalent body), supported by relevant discipline experience (minimum 3 years), supporting projects within a complex environment; or
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline supported by relevant discipline experience (minimum 3 years), supporting projects within a complex environment; or .
- Project management experience within a large complex project, or program of projects;
- Developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in building and maintaining stakeholder relations to influence and lead decision makers;
- Technical, commercial, industry and management experience, gained within a Defence or technical environment;
- Prior experience leading and managing a diverse, matrixed and geographically dispersed team of people across a range of engineering, technical, ILS and Project Management disciplines
- Ability to solicit, support and coordinate efforts of a diverse team of technical and functional experts; and
- Domain experience in defence or a technical related industry at middle management level or equivalent.
