SSE plc is looking for Senior Project Development Manager.
The Role
- You will be joining the rapidly growing development team of behind-the-meter energy projects.
- We develop solar and battery projects which connect directly to our customers in the industrial and commercial sector as well as public bodies, reducing the amount of electricity they import from the grid.
- This role will see you take control of several exciting projects, from concept right up to start of construction, interacting with our clients and leading a project team.
- Throughout the development, you’ll be working with internal and external resources, planning and managing all activities, and reporting on financial, technical and commercial progress.
For This Role We Would Love You To Have
- The ideal candidate will have experience in business development and/or project development in the energy sector, ideally in solar technology but certainly in the energy sector: power / gas / carbon markets, planning and permitting, grid connections, land agreements.
- Your commercial awareness and problem-solving skills are critical to identify commercial opportunities, manage risks and remove obstacles to deliver projects.
- An adaptable and flexible attitude and ability to recognise when projects may require a different approach and resilient in pursuing this to a successful conclusion.
- A drive to exceed our clients’ and our own expectations, readily taking ownership of the delivery process.
- An engineering background is not essential. However, you will need to be able to work with technical and economic concepts with regards to distributed energy solutions and all relevant matters pertaining to applicable legislation, in particular safety, health and the environment.
