We have an exciting opportunity to come join Swinburne University 2023 as our new Senior Lecturer in Architectural Engineering. In this position, you will be acknowledged as a Major Discipline Coordinator in Architectural Engineering, providing strong contribution to the curriculum development, teaching and research within Swinburne’s Major in the Bachelor of Engineering course. Within the Bachelor of Engineering, students specialize in their second year of study in Architectural Engineering. You will play a critical role in the overall students’ experience, teaching quality, and development of graduate outcomes and assume the term role of Major Discipline Coordinator. You will represent the course on the best interests of students, staff and the University and actively engage internally and externally to ensure the best possible outcomes.

This ongoing position is split equally between two Departments: The Department of Architectural and Industrial Design in the School of Design and Architecture, and the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering in the School of Engineering, reporting within the School of Engineering. The role of Major Discipline Coordinator for Architecture within the Bachelor of Engineering will be for a period of five years, reviewed annually and renewable based upon satisfactory performance. As a Senior Lecturer in Architectural Engineering, you will be acknowledged as an emerging leader within your field developing a strong reputation for innovation, high quality teaching and research excellence. You will have demonstrated experience as an Engineer and bring industry connections and a clear understanding of industry needs that will contribute to Swinburne University’s objectives as a leading institution for design and engineering education and research.

It is expected, you will carry out appropriate activities to maintain and develop scholarly, research and professional expertise in order to contribute to the education of the next generation of architectural engineering practitioners, and to the advancement of knowledge in a rapidly evolving social, cultural and technological field. You should be comfortable working in an interdisciplinary environment and be capable of making significant internal and external links with other academic disciplines, professional organisations, industry and government. You will have a demonstrable track record in gaining competitive research income, producing high quality research outcomes and conducting research in multi-disciplinary teams.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
 

  • An earned doctoral qualification in Architectural or Civil or Mechanical Engineering or associated field.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage curriculum, and high quality teaching in Architectural Engineering or relevant discipline with outstanding graduate outcomes
  • An emerging track record in attracting external research income through competitive grants and/or industry collaboration.
  • Demonstrated links with relevant industries, organisations and research communities and demonstrated competence in working with relevant professions in industry and government.


Qualifications

  • An earned doctoral qualification in Architectural or Civil or Mechanical Engineering or associated field.

 

  • Membership of an appropriate Professional body. (Desirable)
