CSV is an independent statutory body corporate providing services and facilities to Victoria's courts, VCAT, the Judicial College of Victoria and the Judicial Commission of Victoria. CSV was established in 2014 to put court administration into the hands of an entity directed by the judiciary.

Sitting in the Office of General Counsel, the Legal and Governance team offers legal advice and services on commercial, administrative law and litigation matters. The team is also responsible for several compliance functions and supports the implementation of effective internal governance. Reporting directly to the Manager, Legal and Governance, the newly created role of Senior Lawyer – Commercial is responsible for providing high quality legal advice with a focus on commercial, contractual, intellectual property and property law matters.
