Description:
They are looking for a practical senior Design and Construct HVAC Design Engineer to work with their modelling, project management and site construction teams to deliver their mechanical services projects for tier 1 builders in Sydney.
They need a creative problem solver, a great communicator with strong design skills and knowledge of code compliance who will create and defend HVAC designs for them to work, function and comply.
The Responsibilities
Working under their NSW Engineering Manager as a senior design engineer with the following attributes:
- Be able to develop and foster positive and productive relationships with team members, clients, consultants, site teams and sub-contractors.
- You will have strong written and verbal communication skills to break down complex issues to communicate our intent successfully and needs to clients, consultants and sub-contractors.
- You will have proven proficiency in the theoretical and mathematical basis of HVAC design and construction process, including heat loads and static calculations.
- As a D&C senior engineer, you will be expected to thoroughly review a concept design for Value Management opportunities and take it from heat loads and ventilation calculations to equipment sizing and selection, scheduling, air and water schematics, floor duct and pipe designs, through to co-ordination of the design to the issue For Construction drawings, site inspections, witnessing commissioning to final certification sign off.
- Detailed understanding of the intent, application, implementation and compliance with the National Construction Code’s DtS requirements, including passive fire rating and Australian Standards AS 1668.1 and AS 1668.2.
- Ability to read, interpret and understand a Fire Engineering Report requirements and determine any mechanical services non-compliances, errors or omissions that may exist in the report.
- Create, implement and witness the operation of a mechanical services Fire Matrix for a project.
- Have an active interest in and the ability to mentor, train and develop the graduate engineers in our business.
- We look favourably on any extended site construction experience, project management and commissioning experience.
The Requirements
- A passion for cost-effective, practical, detailed, compliant and innovative HVAC mechanical services design
- A degree in mechanical engineering recognised by Engineers Australia
- At least ten years of HVAC design and construction experience in a similar mechanical services contractor design role.
- Extensive heat load calculation experience using CAMEL or equivalent
- Experienced in Excel and Bluebeam software
