About the role
The Senior Finance Analyst reports to the Group Finance Manager - Revenue within the Pacific National Finance team. The position develops collaborative relationships and supports the achievement of business goals through proven problem-solving capabilities. Initiative, effective communication, analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to work effectively with systems and reporting tools, and the ability to review and understand business processes.
Work as part of a geographically dispersed, yet close knit and supportive team.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide revenue insights to support operations and commercial teams.
  • Provide customer pricing insights and metrics.
  • Build and maintain strong business partnerships with Customer teams in Pacific National.
  • Build and maintain strong business partnerships with procurement, billing, corporate accounting and FP&A.
  • Collaborate and deliver finance initiatives within the finance function and operations.
  • Perform all financial accounting aspects of the month end, annual budget, strategy and forecast processes.
  • Provide monthly management reports, variance analysis and any other financial reports as required.
  • Continue to streamline the existing accounting processes for the Coal business units.
  • Support the internal and external audit and risk reporting, including collation of outstanding matters and assessment as required.

About you
To succeed in this role, initiative, effective communication, analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively with systems and reporting tools. Other required skills, experience and attributes include:

  • Demonstrated accounting experience, preferably in a financial or management accounting role, preferably in an operational business environment
  • A Big 4 background will be highly regarded
  • CPA/CA qualified with strong Excel skills
  • Ability to listen and gain a valid understanding of business issues and projects
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo in a balanced and constructive manner and drive process improvements
  • Ability to relate and work with people across the organisation, including senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work autonomously, and manage competing pressures whilst still meeting strict deadlines
  • Knowledge of current Finance standards
  • PeopleSoft, TM1 and Cognos exposure preferred but not essential
  • Data savvy and comfortable with dealing with large data sets.
