Senior Coordinator Communications

 

Description:

This Senior Coordinator Communications opportunity will see you reporting to and working closely with the Manager Corporate Affairs on the strategic development, management and implementation of communications to support the organisation in delivering service excellence. You will provide Council’s internal and external clients with professional, cost effective, proactive and reactive communications services and products, across a range of traditional and digital platforms. In addition, you will also supervise and facilitate a collaborative, creative and high-achieving communications team that supports Council’s organisational objectives and values.

  • Lead a team through an engaging and empowering style, to manage, develop and create a robust, engaging program of dynamic, creative and fit for purpose communication activities that span both digital and non-digital channels that ensures access for residents, office based and remote staff.
  • Provide strategic support to the executive team and Councilors, be a trusted adviser that provides expert advice and drives an enabling and business partnering approach across the Communications team.
  • Enhance the systems, processes and policies across the function through a continuous improvement approach with the team for increased efficiency, quality and experience.
  • Local government experience highly advantageous;
  • Tertiary qualification in related discipline with substantial relevant experience, or lesser formal qualifications together with extensive and diverse experience;
  • Recent demonstrated experience managing complex and sensitive organisational and public communication issues;
  • Proven experience in leading a team of communications specialists, with the ability to develop, motivate and coach team members;
  • Experience in administering websites and databases using a content management system, combined with experience in project managing a website redevelopment
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn; and,
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
