Job Description

Reporting to the Community Development Coordinator, this role will see you responsible for working within the City of Albany to achieve broader Community Services goals and objectives including:
 

  • Implementing and reporting on achievements for the City’s Age Friendly Albany Plan, and Access & Inclusion Plan
  • Working with Council and community stakeholders to facilitate community development and community engagement in line with the City’s Community Development Strategy, and Communications & Engagement Strategy.
  • Assisting to coordinate the day-to-day operations of community development programs; and
  • Working closely with community stakeholders and supporting community development and community engagement initiatives and projects delivered across the City’s Community Services Directorate.
     

Desired Skills And Experience

Possession of a Degree qualification in a relevant discipline; or an Associate Diploma in a relevant discipline plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a community development and/or community engagement role.

The successful candidate will also require;
 

  • Excellent public relation skills with an ability to resolve disputes;
  • Excellent time management, planning and organisation skills;
  • Knowledge of program and policy development, coordination and evaluation;
  • An understanding of community development practice, and the effective operation of community groups;
  • Ability to research, develop, implement and evaluate programmes;
  • Understanding of sourcing community grants funding, writing of applications, and acquittals;
  • Experience in a government position involving understanding of policies, procedures and practices (desirable); and
  • Knowledge of the Senior and Disability Sector (desirable).
