The Senior Communications Adviser is a newly created role with a focus on the implementation of mid-year intake in preschools in 2023, and schools in 2024. Reporting to the Communications Lead, you will drive the delivery of communications, campaigns, and services to assist the Department for Education and state government to meet goals and objectives.

The successful candidate will be a senior communications or marketing specialist who has exceptional writing and project management skills, a flair for producing results-driven communications and high-level interpersonal skills.

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Strong skills in the development and delivery of strategic communications plans, content and materials to change behaviour and/or support achievement of organisational objectives.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a variety of projects to deadline, through using initiative and working under limited direction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of effective communications, marketing, and public relations strategies, including a strong understanding of audience-focused strategies.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and liaise effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including organisations such as market research agencies and brand agencies.
  • Experience in providing expert communications advice to executives and business partners.
  • Strong evaluation skills in measuring the effectiveness of communications activities against outcomes, and a keen interest in continuous improvement.
  • Experience in interpreting and applying relevant government policies and guidelines.
  • Desirable Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, public relations or related discipline and/or relevant experience in these areas.
  • Candidates must be willing to obtain a DHS Working with Children Clearance as well as undertake Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care full day/online training course every three years.
