The position of Senior Application Analyst - Finance, provides an opportunity to combine your finance and technical skills. This is a pivotal position that supports the effective running of Swinburne University’s finance function and provides an amazing opportunity to make a positive impact and for career development.

This position resides within the Application Services Team in the Information Technology department. The Application Services team focuses on integrating systems to support business processes and provide data between the many applications used by the University. Numerous application delivery approaches are taken, with examples of Software as a Service, Platform as a Service, in-house hosted third-party systems and in-house developments. The aim of the Application Services team is to provide seamless integration across these systems to optimise operational efficiency for University staff and provide an excellent student experience.

You will be responsible for working in partnership with stakeholders and colleagues to develop improvements to the numerous applications employed across the University. The emphasis is on support of systems that service the University Finance function but can expand to support of systems servicing other functions.

Utilising your analysis skills you will define business requirements, support user testing and perform business process re-engineering. As a natural communicator, you will maintain strong working relationships with other parts of the organisation to ensure effective and complete support of systems. You will also be responsible for driving a high standard of customer service to ensure recognition of, and responsiveness to, the needs of internal and external clients.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in software incident management and problem management including investigation, resolution and communication.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with University staff on all levels.
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders and ability to influence key personnel on business practices and in embedding change.
  • An understanding of IT governance and its processes, with a blend of business acumen and operational experience in a large-scale IT environment
  • Experience using and supporting Finance One module (Technology One) (Preferable)
