The Role

Reporting to the Actuary this position is part of the Asia Pacific Actuarial Analytics team supporting Gallagher Re’s operations regionally and globally, but specifically in the Australasia and Asia-Pacific Region.

The Senior Actuarial Analyst plays a pivotal role in assisting clients in analysing risk to their business from all product lines. Clients include insurance companies, reinsurers, and government entities.

The role is required to undertake best-practice actuarial and financial modelling and effectively communicating these results to our clients to support reinsurance decision making, in addition to understanding the financial position of clients, their broader approach to risk management including Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), solvency and economic capital management and how this contributes to their business’ success.

Additionally the position will deliver the results of catastrophe modelling analyses, along with our global network of in-house catastrophe modelling experts, and, in doing so, demonstrating a deep understanding of the models and their practical application to risk transfer, risk selection and risk pricing.

Other responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

• Understanding the relationship between insurance and capital markets, and the various products available to manage risk including conventional insurance, structured solutions, derivatives, and capital markets.
• Data review and analysis, including analysing granular risk level data and claims as part of our clients’ drive to optimise risk selection, implementation, and review of pricing engines and understanding the drivers of ultimate claims costs.
• Opportunities to work with offices, teams worldwide, which may involve local and overseas travel to contribute to regional business development and success

Qualifications & Education

• Actuarial Degree and Fellowship qualification, or at a minimum have completed Parts 1 and 2 of Actuaries Institute (or equivalent).
• General insurance/reinsurance experience, highly regarded.
