What You Will Be Doing

An exciting opportunity to join Peninsula Health as a Safer Care Consultant (Quality Coordinator) to support Women’s Children’s and Adolescent Health services is available. The role is four days per week and limited tenure for two years. It includes all aspects of safety and quality. The successful incumbent will be responsible for supporting clinical risk management and ensuring organisational readiness for short notice accreditation against the National Safety and Quality in Health Service Standards (NSQHS) by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS).
The role includes maintaining various databases, producing reports and identifying themes/trends across the health service. The incumbent will work closely with the Director Safer Care Unit, other Safer Care Consultants, the Customer Relations Officer, the Consumer Participation Manager, the Quality Data Manager, the prompt™ administrator and the medico legal team. The incumbent must also foster good working relations with all levels of staff in the organisation. There is also a requirement to attend external meetings with peers from other health service organisations and represent Peninsula Health.

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a health related field
  • Midwife, neonatal or paediatric nurse or relevant recent experience in working with perinatal and paediatric services in safety and quality and / or service improvement
  • Experience in developing and implementing clinical safety and quality initiatives
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, excel and working knowledge of computer programs and database applications
  • Ability to design and deliver education programs to large audiences
  • Experience in planning and implementing accreditation programs
  • Experience in clinical risk management including in depth case review and root cause analysis methodology
