Retail And Experience Economy Officer

Merri-bek City Council is looking for a suitably experienced practitioner to fill the position of Retail and Experience Economy Officer. The role will focus on facilitating and marketing Merri-bek’s retail and experience/visitor economy, as well as working collaboratively as part of a cross-Council team to enable the Brunswick Design District.

As a member of the Economic Development team you will work primarily with Economic Development practitioners, Place Managers, Urban Designers and others across council to facilitate development of the retail, experience and visitor economy in key priority areas. This position will report into the Unit Manager Economic Development and will work on a varied and interesting range of programs and projects, including Council’s shopping strip renewal programs; vacant shop initiatives, special charge area programs, activity centre and visitor destination marketing initiatives, buy local programs, and the Brunswick Design District.

Skills And Experience Require To Perform The Role

• A tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline
• Retail and/or experience & visitor economy development experience
• Experience with special rate or charge programs (advantageous; not essential)
• Demonstrated commercial and business acumen
