We have a fantastic opportunity for a Research Focused academic to help drive this important collaboration for SHeLL, mentoring and partnering with NSW Health to achieve better health research and translation in the area of health literacy.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
 

  • develop and maintain collaborative relationships with NSW Health, with evidence of research impact in the area of health literacy
  • contribute to a Health Literacy Hub Research Plan at a state-wide level in alignment with NSW Health priorities.
  • lead a program of research related to health literacy in collaboration with NSW Health staff
  • mentor and provide opportunities for other academics and health staff to develop skills and engage in translational research and education related to health literacy
  • contribute to the development and evaluation of of Statewide health literacy initiatives, including training and ambassador programs, seminar series, and Communities of Practice.
  • maintain a national or international reputation for academic excellence through independent and innovative contributions to research, expanding knowledge and practice in the discipline
  • maintain a research profile, including publication in peer-reviewed international journals or creative works recognised under excellence in Research Australia (ERA)
  • lead and manage successful competitive research grants and explore diverse funding opportunities, including in collaboration with NSW Health staff
  • demonstrate impact through improving student outcomes, experiences and learning
  • make an outstanding contribution to the research, administrative and governance activities of the school or faculty, including participating in university led committees
  • foster a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled
  • contribute expertise and knowledge to forums of public debate, where appropriate and consistent with University policy.

About you

  • Doctorate or PhD - in Public Health, Psychology or a related health field
  • experience in research related to health literacy and research translation / implementation science
  • experience working within health systems to progress research in partnership with stakeholders
  • wide network of established relationships with academic, industry and professional partners and stakeholders
  • extensive experience conducting original research and engaging in scholarly activity
  • extensive experience supervising and mentoring others
  • reputation at a national or international level with supporting research profile.
