Research Devops Senior Systems Engineer

This role is a part of the Monash Research Cloud team. Working in partnership with Monash University researchers, eSolutions staff, and national partners, this role will be responsible for deploying, supporting, maintaining, and managing escalations aimed to improve a range of systems that enables new research and contributes directly to MeRC’s vision.

This role plays a critical part in the day-to-day operations of the Monash OpenStack Research Cloud, including Monash Research Data Storage Environment (RedHat Ceph Storage).

To be successful in this role the candidate will have:

• Extensive Linux administration and tuning experience
• A broad knowledge, understanding and experience in programming, operating and supporting large-scale cloud-based and native, high-performance computing (HPC) and advanced computing systems in support of research
• Previous exposure to programs and applications including software-defined infrastructure (e.g OpenStack, associated hypervisors KVM, QEMU), software-defined storage (e.g Ceph), low latency interconnects (e.g. RDMA)

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements and hybrid working days may be negotiated.
