The Advancement Office aims to facilitate the establishment and maintenance of mutually beneficial relationships between the University and its alumni, friends, and benefactors. It is responsible for the management of programs relating to alumni and benefactors and provides services to and works collaboratively with faculties and other central administration areas.
Reporting to the Head of Leadership Giving and Engagement, the Regular Giving Manager is responsible for the development and delivery of agreed Regular Giving programs with the primary focus of donor retention and building donor pipeline. The Leadership Giving and Engagement team is unique to The University of Melbourne and the successful candidate will have the chance to be part of a team that is the first of it’s kind and leading the way for Australian Universities.

The incumbent will be responsible for the development and delivery of two annual University-wide appeals, utilising integrated direct marketing strategies, to grow support for identified fundraising priorities. The role will have one direct report, the Regular Giving Associate, who will assist in the delivery of all agreed University-wide Regular Giving programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Development and delivery of two University-wide appeals (End of Financial Year and End of Year) and agreed priority Regular Giving programs
  • Provide strategic leadership on mass marketing and communications relating to fundraising using fundraising metrics, best practice and benchmarking
  • Determine data segmentation that supports the strategic direction of the University including conducting the Quality Assurance of data
  • Management of the Regular Giving project budgets and projections for all appeal initiatives
  • Drive the proactive mass marketing programs that engage the broader alumni and wider University of Melbourne community regarding the University’s philanthropic strategy
  • Develop appeal copy for DM, eDM, website/online and social media, including seeking impact stories from alumni, ensuring all communications are written in the UoM ‘voice’
