Tresillian is pleased to invite applications from experienced and motivated Child and Family Health Nurses to join a dedicated team of health professionals in the delivery of the innovative Virtual Residential Parenting Service (VRPS). The VRPS seeks to provide additional, flexible modes of access to intensive early parenting service through the use of telehealth technology. Successful applicants will have access to professional development opportunities and support in the delivery of care for families across NSW, with a focus on building parenting confidence and positive parent-child relationships, providing support to parents experiencing a broad range of challenges in the early years of their child’s life and working with other services to ensure a wrap-around of support for families across the continuum of care.

This position will be involved in the provision of quality child and family health services to families caring for children 0-3 years of age within a Tresillian service. This will be achieved by working within the Tresillian Model of Care, Practice Principles and the NSW Health Professional Practice Framework for Child and Family Health Nursing (CFHN).

The CFHN will use a strength-based and wellness focus, building on parental confidence and skills through the provision of information, education, resources, guidance and role modelling safe responsive care. The child and family health nurse, utilising evidenced based screening and assessment tools, uses their family partnership skills to identify health variations or family vulnerabilities in order to negotiate individual care plans and discharge pathways to meet the goals of the family.

Selection Criteria - Applicants must address the Selection Criteria 

  • Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Postgraduate /post registration qualifications in Child and Family Health
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, evidence based practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in attending to the physical, social and emotional needs of children, and their families.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles of population health and primary health care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles and skills of working in partnership and the principles that underpin NSW Safestart, within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication and negotiation skills, including computer literacy.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence Class C
