Successful applicants must have extensive experience in living and deceased donor kidney transplantation and access surgery, including vascular access and peritoneal access surgery. They will provide access surgery to the large dialysis population of WSLHD. It is expected that the successful candidate will participate in both the kidney transplant roster as well as deceased donation surgical roster. The successful candidate will also contribute to the academic activities including research and teaching within WSLHD transplantation and vascular access surgery.

The Transplant unit provides a National service for Pancreas Transplantation, as well as a regional service for Kidney Transplantation. It performs over 120 transplants per year with regular live donors as part of this program.

• Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and completion of the GSA transplant surgery training program or equivalent and be eligible to be registered with the Medical Board of Australia as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997.
• Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.
• Sound clinical knowledge in Urology and laparoscopic live donor nephrectomy demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position
• Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including:
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision.
• Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied, or clinical research within the Department.
• Research experience in transplantation medicine and surgery is desirable.
