The Soil Conservation Service (SCS) is looking for an experienced Projects Supervisor to undertake the design, construction and maintenance of fire trails for bushfire risk mitigation services - for public and private sector clients. Undertake both office and fieldwork and lead a small team to deliver natural area management projects. Proven project management experience combined with a practical working knowledge in the design and implementation of earthworks or natural area management works required.

Site locations primarily within the Greater Sydney area including the Blue Mountains and the Hawkesbury.

Your duties will include:

  • Management of SCS field staff
  • Contractor management including management of non-compliance
  • Auditing contractor and sub-contractor performance – WHS, Environmental and Quality
  • Undertaking procurement for on ground works
  • Detailed tracking of project progress and planning of new and adhoc works
  • Data management for scheduling and reporting
  • Preparation and revision of contracts and tender documentation
  • Liaison and engagement with stakeholders including the Rural Fire Service and other public and private sector commercial clients.

 


About You:
To be successful you’ll need demonstrated project management experience (including the development of project plans, monitoring of project timelines, budgets and reporting requirements, and contract administration) combined with a practical working knowledge in civil earthworks or the design and implementation of natural area management and grounds maintenance works.

You’ll have strong attention to detail combined with the ability to work autonomously, assess and prioritise tasks in a changing environment and be able to attend to customer requests in a timely and professional manner.

You’ll also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as a high level of computer literacy including MS Office applications – particularly MS Excel.

A current class C Drivers’ License with willingness to travel throughout the Sydney metro region including the Blue Mountains and the Hawkesbury is required.

Comprehensive understanding of environmental principles and legislation and Bushfire risk mitigation experience – APZ establishment and maintenance – would also be ideal.
