What does the role involve?

As a Project Manager, you’re responsible for planning and managing highly complex projects within Australia Post Operations that deliver the stated objectives and benefits signed off in the project’s business case (delivery of new infrastructure eg parcel processing technology, facilities and automation).

You’ll see yourself responsible for delivering projects of

  • High complexity (e.g. automation projects requiring a high level of technological expertise)
  • High cost (e.g between $1 million - $10 million investment)
  • Moderate to high risk (e.g. requiring end-to-end supply chain consideration)
  • Moderate to high profile requiring senior stakeholder consultation and engagement

Day To Day Will See You

  • Delivering clear and attainable project objectives
  • Managing the constraint of Scope, Time/Schedule, Costs, Quality, Risks, Issues to deliver the project successfully
  • Identify metrics to measure, track and realise benefits over short, medium and long term
  • Clearly articulate project objectives and deliverables and engage key stakeholders to develop a work breakdown structure and resulting project scope inclusions / exclusions, schedule, cost estimate and roles and responsibilities
  • Identify and analyse/assess risks and develop strategies and plans to mitigate risks to project and business success
  • Identify and manage project issues to resolution and stakeholder satisfaction, using solutions (eg financial, people and operational) to ensure successful, quality project outputs
  • Control total project expenditures / budgets, anticipating cost issues and implementing solutions
  • Develop, analyse and adapt project reporting and communication (eg schedule, change, dependency), identifying opportunities to improve communication outcomes and enable stakeholders to make critical
  • Manage contractors or suppliers (internal and external) to deliver agreed and contracted performance
  • Influence and negotiate alternative solutions with existing vendors / 3rd party service providers to achieve desired outcomes
  • Ensures appropriate Governance frameworks and accountabilities are defined and actively in place, and align to the Australia Post Governance Framework

What experience will you have?

We’re looking for experienced candidates with strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.

In addition to this, you will ideally have;

  • Experience in managing projects in consideration of the end-to-end supply chain e.g. understanding the impact to the total cost base of the facility
  • Significant experience establishing project requirements and stakeholder input
  • Ability to take accountability and problem solve
  • Expert knowledge of project management principles such as management of timelines, project structure, balancing cost, time and quality
  • Knowledge of operations, supply chain logistics and facility management is advantageous but not essential
